Although there is nothing much novel about the film’s story Dil Ka Rishta still captures a viewer’s attention owing to beautiful cinematic presentation by editor-director Naresh Malhotra.The main highlight of the movie is the presence in it of Bollywood’s most good-looking stars – Aishwarya and Arjun Rampal.The film’s story, written by Ash’s mother Vrinda, goes into the eternal triangle theme in the initial reels itself. Here Arjun is at the jagged end of the love triangle while Aishwarya and Priyanshu are in the thick of it.But the second half of the movie begins to drag thanks to the mushy drama and the predictability of the plot. It was but expected that Arjun would withdraw from Ash while the latter takes a volte-face and begins to show a genuine interest in the latter.

Multi-millionaire Jai Mehta falls head over heels in love with a woman named Tia Sharma, who teaches in a school for the deaf and dumb. Jai’s is heartbroken when he finds out that Tia loves another young man, by the name of Raj. Soon Raj and Tia get married, and Jai takes refuge in alcohol. Tia and Raj give birth to a baby boy. One day, while under the influence, Jai drives a vehicle straight into another one being driven by Raj. As a result, Tia is grievously injured, and Raj is killed. The doctors treat Tia, she recovers but is unable to remember anything from the past. A guilt-ridden Jai decides to assist her, and she falls in love with him. Soon, the time comes for them to decide to get married. It is now that Jai must decide to tell Tia that he was responsible for getting her widowed. The question is will Jai be forthright enough or will be let time take care of the situation?

Both Ash and Arjun groove in well playing the leading roles in the film. The chemistry between the two is smooth partly because of the fact that the two share an old dosti since their modeling days together.On the sidelines, Priyanshu Chatterji plays his marginal role with panache. Rakhee too delivers a polished performance while Paresh Rawal is wasted in a role that falls flat owing to poorly penned dialogues.In a nutshell Dil Ka Rishta is a light-hearted romantic flick that is likely to pull a couple of strings at the viewers’ hearts.
