PRANALI is a 2002 Bollywood Hindi movie released on May 2 under the banner of Harward Entertainment.The movie preview proves to have a strong story outline and hope it lives upto the mark.Directed by Hirdesh Kamble and Produced by Nikhil Mathur the film depicts the story of a poor village girl, married off to a village deity and then condemned to become a prostitute.
Pranali is the story of a woman who struggles her way through the traditions of the past to save her child from the wrath of skin mongers.A girl born in the Devdasi community is stigmated with the trauma of lusty onlookers, who act innocent in the daylight. As she grows up, she becomes an object of desire.One day, she gives born to a baby girl and decides to save her from the sleazy eyes of skin molesters. She promises to fight against all odds and raise her child with honour.However, it is not easy for a sex worker to implement decisions like the one Pranali had made, atleast not without a helping hand. And that hand belonged to NRI Vijay, who penned down the thoughts and experiences of Pranali and brought it in front of the sleeping society.And with thoughts, Vijay also invests the money earned from the royalty received for the book for the benefit of the Devdasi community.
