Roti Kapda Aur Makaan is a 1974 complicated, socially conscious family drama Indian Bollywood Hindi-language film which is written, produced, directed by and stars Manoj Kumar alongside greatest actors of the indian cinema Shashi Kapoor, Zeenat Aman, Amitabh Bachchan, Moushmi Chatterjee, Prem Nath and Madan Puri in pivotal roles.A lot of social and greatest actors of the indian cinema political issues are being portrayed, which even after 26 years haven’t changed that much.Laxmikant Pyarelal were the music directors.The film was the highest grossing film of 1974.The movie revolves around Bollywood powerhouse Manoj Kumar stars as Bharat who soon finds himself unable to land a steady job, hold onto his fiancée, control his sister, or prevent his younger brother from getting sucked into a life of crime after his father’s retirement..

After the retirement of his dad, the onus is on Bharat to look after the Delhi-based family.He has two younger college-going brothers, Deepak and Vijay, and a sister of marriage age, Radha.Bharat is a graduate, but is unable to secure any employment, much to the frustration of his girlfriend, Sheetal.Vijay takes step to secure his own future, by turning to crime, which is strongly opposed by Bharat, and as a result Vijay leaves the house.Mohan is Sheetal’s boss, and finds her very attractive.

When he proposes marriage, she accepts, and soon both are married leaving Bharat heartbroken. After losing his love, Bharat also loses his father, devastating him and leaving him unable to deal with his life. Frustrated, Bharat burns his diploma on his father’s funeral pyre.Devastated Bharat, unable to deal with life, and unable to afford the basic needs of Roti (food), Kapada (Clothing), and Makaan (Shelter), he must now decide to carry on honestly, or otherwise.
