Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna is a film released on August 11, 2006 and directed by Karan Johar and produced under the Dharma Productions banner that stars casts such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta in pivotal roles.According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) originally gave the film an R rating for language and some sexual content.It was re-rated PG-13 on appeal. The film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival.The script of the film was invited to be included in the library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences or more commonly known as the Oscars. The story takes place largely in New York, whose native inhabitants are often turned into buffoons by Mr. Johar, payback, perhaps, for Hollywood depictions of foreigners over the last century.

New York based foot-ball player Dev meets with ‘Diva’ executive Riya, both fall in love and get married.A year later Riya gives birth to a son, Arjun.Dev is all set to sign a contract for $5 million to play professional football, but meets with an accident, fractures his leg, and gets disqualified.Riya takes it upon herself to look after this family, leaving Dev embittered.

Then there are the Talwars, consisting of widower and swinger dad, Samarjit and his son, Rishi. Samarjit arranges the marriage of Rishi with Maya, an orphan he has been looking after.This marriage does not result in any off-spring.Both Dev-Riya, and Maya-Rishi marriages have their ups and downs, but they do patch-up.

The Sarans and the Talwars meet, especially Dev’s mom, Kamaljit, and Samarjit, and everyone seems to be getting along well. Then at a dinner get together, Dev tells everyone the earthshaking news that he is in love with Maya. Watch what develops after this blatant disclosure, and the impact this has on everyone.
